Wait… What are Mooncakes?

If you vày not what mooncakes are, you are not alone. We celebrate the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, which is the closest full moon day to the Autumnal Equinox, by gathering together. Mooncake is a traditional food for this festival và is usually round, which symbolizes the reunion of a family. And depending on the region, it comes in various types and flavors. Cantonese mooncake is the one that I used to eat, which contains lotus seed paste and salted egg yolks. But nowadays, there are more varieties, such as snow skin, ice cream, mochi, etc.

Lava Matcha Mooncakes

I was very excited to try the lava mooncakes because it has become a trend in Hong Kong. One of the popular ones would be the Lava Eggyolk mooncakes from Maxims, but I am going to lớn try something better và newer.Lava Matcha mooncakes from Arome Bakery are made with premium matcha from Uji, Kyoto, & Hokkaido 3.6 Milk.

Inside, there is a creamy và fragrant lava matcha filling. The packaging, designed by a famous Japanese Designer, is simple & elegant.
It is recommended to lớn warm up for 10-15 seconds before eating it. After warming up, it is only in a slightly-melted stage, so I was kind of disappointed. Overall, I definitely enjoy the bittersweet, strong matcha flavor, but I was hoping that the filling is more “lava”. And if the outer shell has a more chewy texture, just lượt thích mochi, I think it is a perfect pair with the flavor. I am very surprised that its flavors are actually quite light, compared to the traditional ones. And I really love their one-bite size. If you ever have a chance to go to lớn Hong Kong during this festival, make sure you try at least one type of mooncake.I hope everyone is enjoying the festival with the family, gazing at the beautiful full moon, và eating the delicious mooncakes.
